Discipleship Rhythms — The Practices That Form a Life

Many teens don't pray because they were never taught how beyond rote forms and crisis-prayer; they've heard the Bible all their lives but were never taught to actually read it; and they've experienced worship mostly as a concert-style service and assume that's what worship is. These studies teach the practices that genuinely form a Christian life over time, and treat teens as capable of the real thing. They open prayer as Jesus actually taught it — the Lord's Prayer, the Psalms as a school of honest prayer, the contemplative tradition's gifts, and the simple disciplines that make prayer happen in a phone-saturated life — aiming to leave a teen with a prayer life rather than information about prayer. They hand teens the actual tools to read Scripture: how the Bible is shaped across its genres, how to read each one well, how to handle hard passages, and how to read devotionally rather than only informationally. And they recover worship as a way of life — the worship language of the Psalms, the embodied worship of the Old Testament, the Christological worship of the New — something that happens with the whole life, not only in a sanctuary. Formationally essential, and largely missing from current teen curriculum.
