Anxiety, the Racing Mind, and the Peace of God
Anxiety has become the background noise of modern adolescence — from constant comparison to the pressure to perform, from social feeds that never stop to the future that never feels secure. This six‑week study invites teens to see anxiety not as a personal failure but as a place where God meets them. Drawing from Philippians 4, Psalm 46, Matthew 6, and 1 Peter 5, participants will learn how Scripture names, reframes, and transforms the restless mind through the nearness of Christ. Each week helps students slow down, notice God’s presence, and practice the peace Jesus offers in the middle of real life — not apart from it. The study is practical without being prescriptive, pastoral without being soft, giving youth leaders a way to guide honest conversations about fear, stress, and identity in a high‑pressure world. Teens will discover that the peace of God is not a distant promise but an active reality that can guard their hearts and minds today.

What You'll Study

When the Mind Won’t Stop
Psalm 46:1‑11; Psalm 23:4
Naming the Noise
Learning Objectives
Participants will identify the ways anxiety appears in their thoughts, emotions, and daily routines. They will observe how Psalms 46 and 23 portray God as both refuge and companion in chaos, and will name one practical way to pause and notice His presence in moments of stress.

The Comparison Trap
Matthew 6:25‑34
Trusting a Good Father
Learning Objectives
Participants will recognize how comparison and performance pressure feed anxiety. They will explore Jesus’ call to trust the Father’s care in Matthew 6 and will reflect on what it means to find their identity in Christ rather than achievement. They will practice re‑framing one daily activity as worship — doing it wholeheartedly for God’s glory rather than for comparison.

When Worry Feels Like Control
Philippians 4:4‑9
Releasing the Grip
Learning Objectives
Participants will understand that worry often disguises a desire for control, yet naming worry honestly before God is an act of trust, not failure. They will unpack Philippians 4 to see how prayer and gratitude open space for peace, and they will express one worry they can release to God through honest prayer this week.

You’re Not Alone in This
1 Peter 5:6‑11; Philippians 2:3‑4
Casting Cares Together
Learning Objectives
Participants will learn that anxiety is not meant to be carried alone. They will study 1 Peter 5 and Philippians 2 to see how humility, prayer, and mutual care invite God’s strength into community, and they will identify one peer or mentor with whom they can share and pray honestly.

Practicing Peace
John 14:25‑27; Psalm 23:1-6
Living From Presence
Learning Objectives
Participants will understand that peace is practiced in relationship with God, not achieved through technique. They will explore John 14 and Psalm 23 to see how the Spirit continues the Shepherd’s comforting presence and will experiment with one simple daily practice of awareness or prayer that helps them stay connected to Christ’s nearness.

Peace That Spreads
Philippians 4:9 & Colossians 3:15‑17
Sharing the Peace of Christ
Learning Objectives
Participants will grasp that the peace of Christ is meant to overflow into relationships and community. They will connect Philippians 4 and Colossians 3 to see how peace and identity intertwine in worshipful living, and will plan one tangible way to extend that peace into their everyday environments.
